About us

Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA of Madison and Clark Counties in Kentucky trains community volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the Family Court System. CASA volunteers are appointed to a child or a sibling set. CASA volunteers are often the only constant in a child's life as they move from foster home to foster home. Volunteers meet with their child/sibling set at least monthly and talk to everyone involved in their life. With this information, CASA volunteers make recommendations to the court regarding the best interests of the children. In 2019, there were 499 abused, neglected and dependent children in Madison County. In Clark County there were 295 abused, neglected and dependent children. To become a volunteer an individual must be at least 21 years old, not be a foster parent, consent to background checks, committ to between 1-2 years, which is the average length of a case, and attend a one off 30 hour training. Volunteers on average dedicated between 5-10 hours a month working as a CASA volunteer.
