Honoring Life. Delivering Compassion.

About us

We're a community-based, non-profit that takes pride in hopeful, compassionate, expert care that recognizes that life continues even when there is no cure. We work with patients, families, caregivers, and patients' physicians to control symptoms at home so all can focus on what matters: what patient and family want life to look like for the next several months. In all our programs--home hospice care, home palliative care, inpatient care at our Compassionate Care Center--our goal is simple: to help patients and caregivers achieve the highest quality of life, as they define it. We emphasize dignity, hope, and compassion as we provide specialized medical and team care to manage pain, symptoms, and other challenges while empowering and supporting caregivers. We work alongside patients and families to make every moment matter. Read more about us at www.hospicecareplus.org, or savor inspiring stories of our patients, families, and staff as they pursue bucket-list wishes together--truly making every moment matter-- at www.hcpblogs.com. Then, contact us: learn about our programs, become a volunteer, apply for employment, give your financial support, or interact with us on Facebook. We are a non-profit hospice serving Madison, Estill, Jackson, Lee, Owsley and Rockcastle counties in Kentucky. We offer both hospice and palliative care as well as a bereavement program. We also own and operate the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, a short-term inpatient hospice facility for symptom management and respite care.

Hospice nurses are special. Follow our nurses as they make a home visit and work at our Compassionate Care Center. Listen as our medical and nursing leaders explain why #hospice nurses enjoy a level of respect and autonomy unparalleled in the medical field. Learn why this unique type of nursing is a gift that "lifts you up." We would like to thank Mrs. Virginia Maupin and her family for allowing us to share her hospice experience with you and for giving us the honor of being part of her care. #nursing #hospicecare #hospicelife #endoflifecare #nursesjobs

The hospitality cart at our Compassionate Care Center is low on snacks and drinks. Visitors appreciate the healthy and sweet treats they can grab from the cart when they need a pick-me-up. If you have single-serving snacks and drinks you can donate, it would be a huge help. You can drop donations off at our Center anytime, but 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. works best. You can also shop online and have it sent to the Center. Just follow the link to our Amazon Wish List, below. Wonder what's needed? Here's a list of items. On Mother’s Day, we celebrate and remember all those who have mothered us: those who gave birth to us, who fostered or adopted us, the mothers we gained through marriage, and other women in our lives who chose to love and nurture us.    We also send warmth and comfort to those for whom Mother’s Day can be difficult or lonely: those who do not have a relationship with their mother, whose mother has died, or those of you grieving children you may have lost or hoped to have.    We hope these tips are helpful for you or someone you know. This day can be both joyous and sad. Whichever way this day comes to you, we wish you a kind ear to listen and encourage you, if you’re able, to be that kind ear for someone who may need it.   Hospice Care Plus’s Grief & Loss Support Services are available to the families of those we care for as well as to residents of our six-county service area: Estill, Jackson, Lee, Madison, Owsley, and Rockcastle counties. All grief support services are provided at no charge. For more information, follow the link. https://lnkd.in/gn3iCD44

As we near the end of National Volunteer Week, we recognize our first, founding volunteers.   In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a small group of women volunteered their time to start our organization, then called Madison County Hospice. For years, they were both the leadership and the care staff, all without pay. They did this while seeing to their own careers and tending to their families.    They did such a magnificent, inspired job, that their vision is still strong, more than 40 years later. They did it with such radical compassion and heart, that the small organization they founded has since reached into the homes and lives of many, many thousands of people.   Some of them are seen in these early clippings. They are our heroes. Every staff member—both paid and volunteer—carries their legacy forward with pride. We can't let National Volunteer Week pass without honoring them.   We always welcome new volunteers to join in that legacy. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dJJjCAE4

On Administrative Professionals Day, we celebrate the heroes who enable us to provide compassionate, expert care every day. They're the administrative assistants who are the first people you talk to when you call and who work so hard to support our direct patient care staff. They are our medical equipment technicians, who ensure you have the necessary equipment and teach you how to use it. They are the accounts payable staff who reimburse the vendors who work with us and ensure that our staff are compensated correctly. Thanks to each of you for believing in and supporting our mission with your work.
